The winding, overgrown lane was barely a path, more a suggestion of where a path might once have been. My old Civic groaned, its suspension protesting with every rut and stone, but I pushed it onwards. Desperation was a potent fuel, far more effective than gasoline. Behind me lay the city, its gleaming towers and bustling life feeling like a distant dream, or perhaps a cruel taunt. Ahead, shrouded in the perpetual twilight of dense, ancient woods, lay the Blackwood Estate. Local legends called it the ‘Scholar’s Retreat,’ though no scholar I knew would willingly choose such a desolate, crumbling edifice. Whispers, however, often carried grains of impossible truth. And I was desperate enough to harvest them. My sister, Lily, was fading. Every doctor, every specialist, every new drug had failed. Her rare autoimmune disease was a ravenous beast, devouring her from the inside out. I had tried everything, spent everything. Then, in the darkest corner of the internet, a forum populated b...
The Chronos Array

The hum is the worst part. Not the steady mechanical drone of the grav-dampers, but the frequency underneath it, the one that buzzes inside the bone, Elias thinks. It tastes like copper and regret. We shouldn’t be here. The Chronos Array. The name itself is a lie, a relic from the pre-Collapse, when humanity thought measuring time was still important. Now, time is just a slow, grinding decay. And we, the four of us, are swimming in the decay, chasing a ghost signal. Mara’s voice, sharp and immediate, cuts through the suit static. “Elias, focus. Core temperature reading on the central axis, now.” Focus. Right. Focus is what separates a successful retrieval from a vacuum burst through the helmet. I run my gloved hand over the console panel. The polycarbonate is slick with condensation. Deep-space cold leaks past the thermal regulators, a constant pressure telling you that the universe finds your existence offensive. Kael is behind me, closer to the airlock, breathing too quickly. I ...

You’ve been to a wedding, right? Seen the beaming smiles, the perfectly coiffed guests, the almost impossibly serene couple gliding through their first dance? Well, let me tell you, what you don’t see are the countless near-catastrophes, the panicked whispers, the sheer, nail-biting, gut-wrenching terror lurking just beneath the surface of that carefully constructed façade of matrimonial bliss. No? Just me? My name’s Leo, and today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Or, at least, that’s what everyone kept telling me. What they failed to mention was that it would also be the day I questioned every decision that led me to this moment, including, but not limited to, the decision to wake up this morning. It started innocently enough, as all good horror stories do. The sun, an unapologetic bully, blasted through my hotel room window at precisely 6:00 AM. My internal clock, usually set to "snooze indefinitely," had been overridden by a potent cocktail of adrenaline an...

I was working in the lab, late one night, When my eyes beheld an eerie sight. For my monster from his slab, began to rise, And suddenly to my surprise, Electric sparks danced in the dark, Flickering shadows painted the walls, A cacophony of laughter echoed, As the stitches of time began to unravel. Rusty gears creaked under the weight of creation, Body parts stitched together, A jigsaw puzzle of misfits, Yet yearning for a breath of life. His eyes—glowing embers in the midnight gloom, Reflecting the chaos of the world above, A silent question lingering in the air, What does it mean to be born again? An awkward shuffle, a hesitant step, The ground beneath him trembled, I wondered if fear or excitement coursed through him, What was it like, to awaken from the void? In that moment, two souls connected, Bound by ambition, stitched from madness, A creator and his creation, Defying the limits of flesh and time, We danced in the flick...
Harvest Maze

The air in Blackwood Valley didn't just carry the scent of autumn; it carried the stench of rot and cheap molasses, the obligatory perfumes of a failing season. Tonight was Halloween, and Elias Thorne, cynical and clad in a costume that was too expensive to be funny, was determined to hate every second of it. He and his three friends—who had long since become annoyingly enthusiastic about fake frights—had paid the exorbitant fee for Blackwood’s Harvest Maze, a vast, twisted labyrinth cut into thirty acres of dying hybrid corn. "They say this maze is built on ancient grounds," whispered Maeve, clutching Elias's arm, her voice tight with performative fear. "Where they used to hold the original, uh, harvest." Elias snorted, brushing off a stray piece of dry husk. "It's built on a tax write-off, Maeve. Look, there's a teenage ghoul holding a blinking plastic jack-o'-lantern." They plunged deeper. The first half hour was exactly as Elias ex...

(Verse 1) Midnight bell tolls, the air turns cold and thick Shadows writhe and twist, playing every trick From the forgotten crypts where ancient horrors sleep A chilling whisper rises, promises to keep The moon hangs low, a bloated, crimson eye Watching silent screams pierce the witches' sky Cobwebs cling like shrouds to the graveyard gate Tonight the living learn to fear their fate. (Pre-Chorus) Hear the scratching, just beneath the floor? Something's stirring, hungry for more The ground begins to tremble, a ghastly, wet sound As broken things awaken from the hallowed ground! (Chorus) Oh, the blood-stained moon, a crimson tide! Guts and gristle, nowhere left to hide! Screaming, visceral, from the hollow night! Welcome to the harvest of pure, gory fright! Tear the flesh and crack the bone, drink the fear so deep! This Halloween, your soul is ours to keep! (Verse 2) Pale hands claw the soil, from graves they rise again Eyes like burning coals, filled with endless pain A zombie...
